Project - Ronald McDonald House
A costal inspired renovation for kids and families in need.
The Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) is a global non-profit that support seriously ill children and their families. Their most well-known program provides accommodation for families with hospitalized children being treated at nearby hospitals and medical facilities. Since opening their doors here in Australia the program has since helped thousands of families. In the 18 locations across the country, they house up to 260 families each and every night.
Recently the Newcastle Ronald McDonald House got a much-needed refurbishment on two of their apartments. Designer Melony Lea worked with RMHC Newcastle to create a home away from home for well deserving families. These apartments serve as a home for families who end up needing to hospital facilities a little longer than planned so they are self-contained spaces with these family's needs in mind.
Melony Lea designed this gorgeous space with "cool calming colours to help the families get a good night sleep". The space is not only functional - able to accommodate for wheelchairs and other medical needs - but homely feel with costal touches would make a massive change from the wards these families are used to.
It's an honour to have our lights be part of this project. Our rattan pendant light and bamboo table lamp suit the calming costal theme so perfectly. Plus, we love the use of our Cellar Wall Light paired with other black furnishings around the apartment used as contrast pieces.
These houses are free to eligible families, in order to do this RMHC relies on the work of volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations. If you're Inspired by the work they do you can read more about how you can help here.
