Project - Kyah Hotel
A Blue Mountains getaway meets a Wes Anderson colour palette in this new luxe hotel
Nestled on a two-acre property near the highest point of the Blue Mountains in Blackheath the Kyah Hotel brings a combination pastel art-deco, childhood nostalgia and luxurious relaxation to life in its walls.
Set up in a classic motel style there is a variety of room options as well as a tennis court, a steam room, three fireplaces and a stunning 100-year-old cherry blossom tree. Also calling this property home is Blaq; a restaurant and bar with a menu highlighting the unique local ingredients - sourcing exclusively from suppliers within an 80-kilometre radius of Kyah then supplementing anything they need from the hotel’s own vegetable garden.
The 46 room hotel has given the bones of the previous building a face lift with elegant archways, soft sweeping curves, stylish art deco-inspired furnishings all emphasized by the color scheme that is reminiscent of the tones used by Wes Anderson in his films. Furnished with crushed velvet chairs in earthy greens and blues, blinds in red earth ochre, marble tables and golden hardware.
Lighting throughout the hotel is a stylish addition to the art-deco feel. Furnished with lamps and wall lights from Fat Shack Vintage - the glass ball shades used around the tie in with the art deco inspiration.
